It is a false epigine berry that forms a compact cluster. It is covered by a green leathery pericarp in the immature specimen and intense yellow when mature. It is linear or falcate, between cylindrical and markedly angular according to the variety. The pulp is white to yellow, rich in starch and sweet. It provides vitamins A, C, B1, B2, B6, B9 - folic acid - and E. On the other hand, as for minerals, are potassium, magnesium, iron, selenium, zinc and calcium. The list of benefits includes the content of tryptophan, which is presented as an essential amino acid.
