The distributors of electronic equipment in Colombia is a dynamic market that has enormous scope to expand.
The sales in the region are highly driven by the innovation introduced in the new products launched. The growing concerns of the environment make that Colombians switch to products that conserve less electricity and water.
During the pandemic, Colombia's government leaped into three days without taxes. During these days, Colombians could purchase different articles without the IVA tax that is 19%. Home appliances in Colombia have the highest impact; the industry grew over 150%. The highly purchased items were televisions, kitchen appliances, electronic equipment, and overall home appliances.
Moreover, consumers are strongly influenced by brands in Colombia, fashion trends, and promotions, yet there is also a strong influence of traditions on them. The increasing levels of brand loyalty are also being seen in the region. The brands which offer value-added services, like periodic after-sale service, extended warranty, replacing a faulty part if required, quick and straightforward procedures of communication and servicing, are the factors that are affecting the consumers' decision making once they get a product that fits their requirement of quality and price.
But Colombians are getting even more electronic with e-commerce. The increased adoption of digital and mobile technologies in Colombia has resulted in three-digit sales growth through e-commerce platforms in recent years. According to consulting firm BlackSip in its report titled "Reporte de Industria: El E-commerce en Colombia 2018/2019", between 2012 and 2017, online sales of home appliances from COP105.2bn ($36m) and up 728% of electronics, food, and beverages, and other electrical appliances.
