Consultancy services also known as business process outsourcing (BPO) are very common and are often used by Colombian and multinational companies. BPO is seen across different sectors including banking, health, government, telecommunications and others providing services such as marketing, technology, auditing, coaching and contact centers.

According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), the main export of BPO services are the United States and Spain specifically outsourcing call center services. The contact center sector in particular is attracting telecommunications and financial services companies that need to deal with a massive number of clients on a daily basis. Approximately, 50% of the operations of these companies are outsourced to contact centers in Colombia.

The BPO industry in Colombia continues to grow allowing the economy to improve as well. It is estimated that the BPO sector has increased 9.6%. and produce over $1 billion usd in international sales. It is said that this industry is one of the highest job generators in the country creating more than 580,000 jobs. As a result of the pandemic, many businesses are in need of BPO remote operations specifically in the use of contact centers to serve their clients. Therefore, the demand for BPO services has drastically increased. It is expected that the industry will create close to 16,000 more jobs.
