Yam is an edible tuber, hard-skinned and brown to gray-pink in color. Its texture can vary from soft and moist to rough, dry and floury. The interior is white in color and is rich in starch, as well as containing carbohydrates, proteins and an appreciable amount of vitamin C and vitamin B1.

COLOR: Externally the rind is brown and internally the pulp is white.
