GULUPA - Passiflora edulis
Gulupa is a native fruit from the Amazon. The fruit has a hard skin with a color that varies between green and purple depending on its level of ripening. It is a vine type of plant and its fruit is a great source of fibre, vitamins A, B2, B3, B6, B9 and C and minerals like magnesium, phosphorus, iron and potassium. With a slightly acidic flavor, this fruit is very desirable to eat on its own or in cocktails, jams and ice cream. The gulupa is known as passion fruit, because the flower has physical characteristics that resemble the crown of Christ on the cross.
